When we bought our current home in 2006 there were quite a few home improvements we had to do before moving in, and many more STILL on the list!! It's never ending! I absolutely love my kitchen and it's layout to the family room, but I had wanted to re-paint the cabinets from its original natural wood to white when we moved in but at the time there was only so much that we could do to fit in the budget and had to stick with the priorities.
A white kitchen makes feel happy and refreshed. It seems that it's the new popular and trendy thing to do to kitchens but I think the time has come to jump on the bandwagon. After years and months of convincing the hubby, he's finally ready to take the plunge with me. Now we just need to decide, do we try and save money and get our hands messy with paint or hire the handyman?
My current domain :) the kitchen really is the heart of the home. it's amazing how much time I spend in here. and yes that is 3 boxes of girl scout cookies! originally a total of 5! I couldn't just buy one after those little puppy dogs eyes are asking you if you want to buy to support the cause
a few of the beautiful inspirations
Love the stainless steel, but unfortunately my black beauties will stay!
if we can fit it in the budget, would love to add a subway tile backsplash.

WITHOUT QUESTION...hire someone. We had ours painted white when we bought our house and after seeing the process I'm so glad I didn't attempt it myself, which I was considering. Maybe I'm lazy- i know plenty of people would DIY, but I would at least get some bids and see how much it will be. You want it to be a good job so it doesn't chip or look like crap. Cabinets get a lot of wear and tear! Ok that's my 2 cents. :)
YES! I love white kitchens too. I totally wanted to paint mine white when we moved. I have it all bid out too! Funny. I'll probably never get to it. Like you say, money/time/energy/other needs first. Have you seen these??

That would look great!
I am already on the bandwagon- mine aren't fancy, but I love my white kitchen. I already have "black beauties" too- there when we moved in. I LOVE your kitchen/family area layout. If you can afford I'd totally hire out make sure it's done right.
P.s. the blog Cari mentioned- Black Eiffel- is my sis in law- she has great stuff on there!
